Rob Foster - man with a mission!
Rob Foster is in Peru with Baptist Mission Action Teams until April 2012. There is a regular log at the team homepage and Rob's own blog as well as news below. When they return, they will spend two months touring churches in the UK, telling of their adventures and the greatness of God, finally signing off from BMS on 30th June. They will be in the Bicester area from 14th-21st May. An intinerary will be available nearer the time.
LATEST NEWS
23/01/12 - they are taking a mid-session break in Arequipa by the sea, then return to run a children's holiday club, on a Noah's Ark theme. Their Spanish must really be improving by now.
01/01/12 - Christmas was celebrated fairly traditionally with loads of food and crackers, and New Year's eve was spent in rather too close proximity to fireworks in the crowded town square!
11/12/11 - they have visited chidren in hospital and local schools. There have been birthday parties, clowning and balloon modelling. They have tried guinea pig (!!) and will have a week off to explore Machu Picchu for their Christmas holidays - Feliz Navidad!
06/11/11 - further phone call and photos on Facebook confirm much sight-seeing in Cusco, sunshine and torrrential downpours. Intensive Spanish lessons, a visit to a llama farm and a bus trip with locals to a village in the mountains. The true work will begin from this week. Keep on praying and thank God for answered prayer so far.
23/10/11 - phoned from Cusco with news of warm weather, a fantastic apartment with own room and bathroom, and occasional hot water for showers. None of his luggage was lost on the flight, which was an answer to prayer straight away!
PREVIOUSLY: There was training, injections, language learning and church work to do first, then when he returns, presentation tours and decommissioning. He is with a team of 3 others (all girls!) and raised over £4000 for the adventure. He completed a month of final training and team-building at the BMS International Mission Centre in Selly Oak, Birmingham, and flew out on 18th October. Over 24 hours later he was met by their hosts, Scott and Anjanette Williamson.
With team-mates Jess, Amy and Liz, spelling out "Peru"!
